Mr. Panda has a box of doughnuts and decides to ask his friends if they want one. When his friends answer "YES!", he changes his mind. That is, until someone says "please".
As a lover of children's literature and even more importantly, doughnuts, this book is a winner for me and my son. Adorably illustrated (how could you not love the little hat on top of Mr. Panda's head that says "doughnuts"?), each page comes to life as Mr. Panda traverses around asking if any one wants a doughnut. Most say yes, although not everyone, but until someone says the "magic word", he holds out on them. This book teaches the importance of saying "Please" and "Thank you" to children and helps instill good manners. The only issue I have with this book is that after I read it with my son, we both want doughnuts.
Mr. Panda is a cute and lovable protagonist and I would love to see Antony make him the star of a series of books, each teaching a different aspect of good manners. As an eye doctor that sees a lot of kids, this is definitely lacking in today's society. Great job Mr. Panda and Mr. Antony.
