The Scarlet Witch has altered reality again showcasing her ability to cause huge shifts in time and space which may prove to be devestating. The Avengers and X-Men decide to team up and figure out a way to stop her from doing this again but her father, Magneto, and brother, Quicksilver, suppose they are formulating a plan to destroy her - and they will protect her at any cost. The Scarlet Witch then hatches a huge, abrupt change in the course of everyone's lives and they don't even know it. They each wake up in a happy life and go about their happy day. But something just doesn't add up to Wolverine. And he starts piecing it all together. And all signs point to Magneto - the leader of the House of M in this new society.
This was a fast-paced, great graphic novel that kept me guessing all the way until the end. Heralded as one of Marvel's best graphic novels of all time, be ready for an epic, no holds barred, action and adventure filled story when you pick this up.
Typical with most Bendis novels, this book was expertly written and illustrated with a beautifully complex story line that never felt shallow. I think most people will enjoy this book because all of the favorites are here: Iron Man, Wolverine, Cyclops, Doctor Strange and everyone in between. However, the first issue is a little hard to jump aboard as this was originally written to tie in an X-Men and separate Avengers story line so some back knowledge helps the reader appreciate it more. I had not read the prior comic book arcs but I still felt like this was quite the satisfying read.
In my ever continuing quest to read all of the epic graphic novels and comic book story arcs in the DC and Marvel universe, I'm glad I picked this up. Definitely worth a read and with the whole story being eight comic books, its long enough to be fulfilling but short enough to not require weeks of commitment.
